Paolo Franchetti graduated in Civil Engineering at the University of Padova (Italy) in 1999 and got the PhD in Design, Preservation and Structural Control in 2004. He is owner, starting from 2003, of Franchetti Spa, an engineering company that operates in the field of infrastructure assets.
The company is specialized in the inspection, analysis and maintenance of high-value elements, such as bridges and complex transport networks.
He is former teacher, as Adjunct Professor, for the courses of Dynamic of Structures and Design of Structures for Environmental Protection. He was Visiting Professor at the University of California Irvine for a study on seismic vulnerability of networks and road infrastructures. Member of IABSE and IABMAS, he is author of 3 monographs, more than 60 journal and conference papers and speaker in several international conferences, related to bridge asset management, structural design, safety evaluation of existing structures, bridges and viaducts, response under seismic load, innovative techniques of seismic refurbishment and damage assessment. He was technical Director for several Local Road Managers concerning the study of structural condition, safety verification and optimal resource allocation of more than 10.000 bridges.
