Dr. Mohammadian is a Professor of Transportation Systems and Head of Civil, Materials, and Environmental Engineering at the University of Illinois Chicago. His research has covered various areas of transportation planning including travel behavior analysis, modeling of activity and travel patterns, travel surveys, computational analysis of transportation systems, agent-based microsimulation models, and freight and logistics modeling. He has authored/co-authored over 400 scholarly publications in scientific journals, conference proceedings, book chapters, and reports. He has completed over 40 funded research projects funded by various agencies. His total research funding exceeds 12 million dollars, with over 6 million dollars of direct intellectual credit share.  He is the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Transportation Letters and associate editor of Transportation Research Records. He has also served as the Chair of the “Traveler Behavior and Values” committee of the National Academies’ Transportation Research Board (TRB). He has advised 25 PhD students, 17 MS students, and 7 post-doctoral fellows.
