Mr Vesa Mannisto is a senior advisor in asset management at the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency (FTIA), Finland. FTIA is a government agency under the supervision of the Ministry of Transport and Communication, and is responsible for public roads, railways and waterways in Finland. Mr Mannisto received his M.Sc. in Statistics in 1989. After graduation he worked for 20 years for private consulting companies in Finland, mainly in pavement and other road management related projects, both in Finland and abroad. He joined Finnish Road Administration in 2008, just two years before road, railway and waterway administrations were merged to the Finnish Transport Agency. Mr Mannisto is now responsible for development and harmonization of asset management procedures and systems in the FTIA. As a senior advisor he is also involved in planning of annual and long-term funding for infrastructure maintenance and rehabilitation. He is also the chairman of the Finnish mirror group for ISO/TC251 (Asset Management).
